‘People of Chinese origin have been associated with Caulfield since the 1860s and 1870s when local European market gardeners began to lease their land to Chinese growers. Caulfield’s first Chinese market gardener was Kee Poy, who leased 15 acres at the corner of Inkerman and Kooyong Roads from John Dean.
